Why give a My First Day photograph?

A My First Day photograph is unique amongst baby gifts. You could order one to celebrate the birth of your own child or you could give it as a thoughtful, personalised gift to new parents. It makes a very original Christening gift, birth gift or even a Mother's Day gift or Father's Day gift.

A My First Day photograph could also be ordered to celebrate other occasions. You might choose to give one as a wedding present, a wedding anniversary present, or a civil partnership present. Because a My First Day photograph is a personalised gift bearing your own message, it really is a unique way to mark any special occasion.

About the Photographers

Gavan Goulder

Gavan has pursued a successful photographic career for the past 12 years, specialising in reportage, portraiture and commercial photography.

He has worked for major national and international clients, including well-known magazines, newspapers and companies. He has also created a number of important exhibitions.

Gavan lives in West Cornwall, a part of Britain renowned for its stunning coastal scenery, dramatic seas and eloquent light. The natural beauty of the region and the birth of his daughter Ella in 2005 inspired Gavan to create My First Day.

"Getting up at dawn throughout the year has it’s challenges. During the summer months this can be as early 3.45am. I slip on my shorts, check the weather and head off to the location for the day. I am constantly amazed by the light at dawn here in Cornwall. I have been lucky enough to have photographed all over the world but the light here is so special. The winter has it’s different challenges. I get a good lie in compared to the summer but have to deal with the Cornish weather which has plenty of wind and rain but still has that magical light."

Chris Webber

Chris became involved in photography at an early age, when working as a picture interpreter. During this time he learnt the skills of photography and darkroom techniques. Chris then went on to run a successful business for seventeen years. The skills he learnt during this time, he brings to My First Day.

Chris has been surrounded by art and artists for most of his life. He spent much of his childhood in West Cornwall, where his mother was born and raised, and moved permanently to the area in his early twenties.

Chris has continued his love of photography and interest in art and has been involved in photographing local artists' work.

Chris now enjoys visiting the special spots around the coast of West Cornwall to watch and photograph the dawn of a new day for My First Day. The birth of his daughter Lilly in 2005 makes this even more poignant.
